What's great

It’s made a huge difference in my day-to-day workflow by cutting down the time I spend on paperwork, which gives me more space to focus on other meaningful areas of my work as a therapist. I use it for so many things — generating email responses, initiating ideas for program creation, speech-to-text, and the Therapist AI assistants like the case note helper and resource library.

All of these tools support different parts of my work and make everything feel more manageable.

I also really appreciate how well it helps me communicate clearly and concisely with different people I work with, which saves time and reduces mental load.

What needs improvement

The data analysis function could be improved, as it currently struggles with managing calculations and handling data accurately, which makes it hard to rely on for number-based work.

The layout of tools across the app and webpage could also be more intuitive. Some functions feel scattered rather than clearly grouped by purpose — for example, social media tools are placed alongside clinical tools like therapy or plan generators, even though they serve very different needs. Clearer organization would make the platform easier to navigate and understand.

It would also be helpful to have higher word limits for certain AI Therapist tools, such as the group feedback summary, which often require more detailed output.

Lastly, the user interface for some features isn’t always intuitive. For example, the AI website tool returns an error message saying it doesn’t have direct access to external websites, even though that’s its primary function. Similarly, the AI YouTube feature seems to function more like a basic speech-to-text or media transcription tool rather than fully converting videos into blog-style content as described.

vs Alternatives

I chose Therapist AI because its tools are tailored to the way I actually work. From generating case notes on the go during outreach work to helping me think through and respond to the evolving needs of individuals and group sessions, it supports my real, day-to-day workflow in a practical way.

It’s also been helpful that my workplace has integrated Therapist AI, which makes it easier to align with colleagues around processes and ways of working. Therapy work can sometimes feel isolating, but having a shared platform that we each integrate into our own practice creates a sense of camaraderie — like we’re working together, even when we’re working apart.

Can multiple therapists collaborate within one practice?

Not directly. While therapists can discuss and align on how they use different functions, there isn’t currently an in-app chat or group communication feature that I’m aware of. The “team members” tab also doesn’t seem to be functional for me, though that may require additional add-ons or permissions.

If deeper collaboration were to be introduced, it would be important to clearly define what types of materials can be shared between therapists within the same practice and what should remain individual, given confidentiality and ethical considerations.

Does it capture audio or only text for sessions?

With client consent, audio can be recorded externally (for example, using a voice memo on an iPhone or another recording tool). TherapistAI doesn’t currently have an integrated audio recording feature, but it does offer a speech-to-text function that allows uploaded audio files to be converted into text for session documentation.

Does it integrate with telehealth and calendars?

I’m not entirely sure yet, as I haven’t used it deeply enough to confirm full telehealth integration. There may also be considerations around consent if AI were to be used directly within telehealth sessions.

At this stage, it doesn’t appear to integrate with calendars, though that would be a really helpful feature to add in the future.
