What do you think? …

Tom
@jeffreyfultonca Looks great. Do you have or are you looking to get a security audit? Does the fee unlock across Mac and iOS or does each require a separate licence? The fields could be a little neater. Would love to see an easier option to reveal pswd with a single click rather than needing to navigate to tiny area to find drop down. Great to see one-time purchase option rather than these annoying subscription apps. Is there any comparison in terms of security to mac or something like 1pswd? What are the security implications of 1pswd utilising Electron? Pleased to see an alternative to 1pswd. Solid work. Love the simplicity.
Jeffrey Fulton
@tomflemming Thanks for the feedback and kind words Tom! We've not yet been able to perform a security audit but are strongly looking forward to it. You can read more here: https://minimalistpassword.com/h... We have not done comparisons to Mac or other password managers, but that is a great idea! I've added it to the list! Thanks.
Tom
@jeffreyfultonca It would be interesting to learn more about your approach, how it differs from others (such as 1pswd who seem unnecessarily complex merely in order to be able to charge you for it). Particularly intrigued by how you are taking advantage of Apple's framework, encryption and security, especially as iCloud does not offer full end-to-end encryption and is not fully encrypted on their servers.
Jeffrey Fulton
@tomflemming Absolutely! Have you reviewed our security page? Give it a look and let me know if you have any questions. https://minimalistpassword.com/n...

Would love to give this a try! Looks promising! Also, congrats for putting out a product cater to the needs of consumers!
Jeffrey Fulton
@roses_are_rosie Thanks Jisoo! We basically made the password manager we wanted, and it turned out other people wanted it too! It's a win / win!

It think this is great and I got really excited. Albeit being on apple ecosystem - I believe you would be turning away from a large market since almost everyone is using Chrome. Only with that support you can probably expand the audience exponentially. I understand that it might not be technically possible - I just personally wish it happens and I would switch straight away albeit renewing for 1P last month for a year.
Jeffrey Fulton
@sokirill Thanks. I think you're absolutely right about us losing market due to the lack of Chrome support. It's probably our most requested feature right now. It's on our radar.

@jeffreyfultonca Please keep us posted! You are on the right track and wish you all the best mate!

@berauz Thanks!

Just purchased to support and excited to use it -- trying to import a CSV from chrome exported passwords and almost got it using the RoboForm template. Excited to start using this.
Jeffrey Fulton
@morewillie Thanks Willie! I'm glad you figured out how to import Chrome CSV using the RoboForm template, but that really highlights a weak point in Minimalist, we need to support importing from generic CSV. We're actually already working on this feature, but it will take a little while to make it into the public version. I look forward to hearing your feedback!

@jeffreyfultonca For sure! so far so good! quick question -- when I'm creating an account for something, will minimalist catch it and save that password or no? Should I be turning off safari's autosave in iCloud?
Jeffrey Fulton
@morewillie Unfortunately Apple's AutoFill system does not yet provide a way for Minimalist automatically "catch" the username / password while you're creating an account the way it does with iCloud Keychain. So my personal flow is to first open Minimalist and create a login item for the account, copy the auto-generated password, then jump back to Safari to finish creating the actually actual account. You can also create a new login item directly from the AutoFill menu by selecting "Minimalist" -> "+", but I personally like opening the app. Let me know if you find a flow that works for you!

Thank you very much for the kind words! Yes, Minimalist supports import from 1Password
Jonas
Congrats on the launch @jeffreyfultonca. Minimalist looks gorgeous and I'm definitely thinking about getting a life time license ;). The only thing that "bothers" me is the intransparency when it comes to security. This is THE most important aspect of a password manager / vault for me personally. Are these security audits you mentioned scheduled regularly? Will you provide proof? Will there be different security audit providers? And maybe a naive and/or provocative question: Have you considered open sourcing - at lest some of - your code?
Jeffrey Fulton
@jonas_brueniger Thanks for the kind words Jonas! I completely understand your concern about security and the lack of publicly available audits. Truthfully, I would feel the same way in your shoes. We will be updating our website with more details on security and security audits over the next number of weeks, but in the mean time here are direct answers to your questions. Q. Are these security audits you mentioned scheduled regularly? A. We have not yet scheduled any security audits, however we imagine they will be performed annually. Q. Will you provide proof? A. We will post full audit reports on our website. Q. Will there be different security audit providers? A. We're not sure. Let's get the first one done before we start thinking about the second one! ;) Q. Have you considered open sourcing - at lest some of - your code? A. We have considered open sourcing parts of the code, but not seriously enough to commit to anything. So far we've focussed all our efforts on designing, building, and marketing the product. We still have lots of work to do, including performing third-party security audits and open sourcing. For anyone interested, we have detailed our approach to security and privacy at: https://minimalistpassword.com/n...
Jonas
@jeffreyfultonca Thank you for answering all my questions thoroughly, Jeffrey. Completely understand that everything is still in the "build-up phase"; sorry for my "naive" question regarding multiple security audit providers. You're right. Let's start with at least an actual, first security audit and let's see what makes sense in the future. Annually seems reasonable to me. As much as I trust you, your team, your skills and your good intentions... when it comes to storing my passwords, IDs, license keys etc., I prefer to wait for at least the first security audit. I'm sure you guys did an amazing job but we all have our blind spots. With more external validation of your security mechanisms, I'll be ready to immediately become a happy customer.
Jeffrey Fulton
@jonas_brueniger Perfectly reasonable! I completely agree we all have blind spots. This is part of the reason we're so looking forward to performing security audits! In the mean time, we will continue to mitigate against our own blind spots by relying on Apple's security technologies where-ever possible rather than inventing our own: https://minimalistpassword.com/n... Thanks again!
