Who is pouring into you?

As leaders, we spend most of our time pouring into others. Our families, our friends, our teams. We invest our time, energy, and presence in being there for others. But somewhere along the way, it becomes easy to overlook an important question…

Who is pouring into you?

Who is feeding your spirit? Who is speaking into your life? Who is calling you higher? Who knows you well enough to speak into your work life and even your personal life?

Not someone who only hypes you up or tells you what you want to hear. I’m talking about someone willing to tell you the truth with respect and love.

Someone who provides wisdom, encouragement, and correction. Someone who will celebrate your wins because they know what it took to get there, but will also point out your blind spots because they actually care about your growth.

Maybe it’s a mentor or advisor. Maybe a counselor or coach. Maybe there’s someone who speaks into your work life while another speaks into your personal life. Either way, everyone needs someone in their corner.

Leadership carries weight. Decisions affect others. Many will not understand what you experience on a daily basis or the challenges you grapple with. You need someone in your life who does understand and has the authority to speak candidly.

So, I ask you again..

Who is pouring into you?

If no one comes to mind, that’s okay. This isn’t a task to add to your list or a reason to feel like you’re behind. It’s just an invitation to consider.

Such a good question and think we forget that we also need a fountain to drink from time to time.

@dbul Precisely. Our overflow is only possible if our cup stays full.

As I put effort into supporting others, I receive the strength to move forward from the people around me. I believe this is the balance that life needs :)

@ixord Well said!

My parents :) Even though I know they don't understand anything about my field, they sincerely try to help me with advice, and I appreciate it. And even that advice may not always be useful, but it gives me so much motivation to continue doing what I'm doing now.

@beaverit That's such a special dynamic to have. Thanks for sharing Danylo.
