How to find and get more support from active Product Hunt users?

I noticed this question in one of my discussions and thought it would make sense to share my approach if I were to get in touch with more active users of this platform.

Here’s how I would find them and connect with them (via X, LinkedIn or other channel) – You can find them :

  1. Check people who log in daily (Streaks).

  2. Look at users who actively comment under discussions and launches.

  3. Connect with active hunters.

  4. You can try reaching out to the internal Product Hunt team.

  5. Explore WA, Telegram, and Signal PH groups where people are active and reach out to them.

  6. Check users who launch a few days before you – they’re likely to put effort into the platform too, so they still have that "launching vibe".

I’m curious: what other strategies have you tried to engage with PH’s active community? (In terms of finding, connecting with them and asking for help).

Feel free to share your POV.

Yeah that's literally all that I am doing haha. I am not much active on X, so I am missing out on that. But its just not embedded in my reflex so I don't open it as much anyways.

So my goto approach is mostly seeing if the profile has linkedin, and connect with them

Nika

@ansh_deb LI is not so shady as X :D

Ansh Deb

@busmark_w_nika Ya I bet. lol.

Linkedin is a lot of "show off" as well, but I am kind of used to it now haha

Nika

@ansh_deb I will rather show off than receive messages from some erotic X bots :D

Great topic, Nika! One of my absolute favorites. (Or at least for today!)

Since you know I constantly connect with (and get contacted by) different Product Hunt users, I’ll share some of my favorite methods:

  1. Be active in the forum.

There’s no more logical or obvious place to find active Product Hunt users than the Product Hunt forum itself. This is where you’ll meet either highly engaged regular users or people who are about to launch very soon.

  2. Follow/Connect the products launching each day and their teams.

Every day, between 200–300 products launch. That means at least 300–1000 people you can connect with daily (since many launches aren’t solo but done by teams). Multiply that by 30 days (of the month) and the number becomes thousands. And a lot of these people list their X/Twitter or LinkedIn profiles.

Just go to LinkedIn/X and send them a normal, human message introducing yourself. It’s not scary. Most people respond very positively.

  3. X/Reddit and LinkedIn communities.

Here are some of the subreddits and X communities with a lot of Product Hunt users (indie hackers, startup founders):

    Twitter/X Communities:

    https://x.com/i/communities/1511240768618381316

    Subreddits:

    Here are the subreddits:

    r/SideProject
    r/Startup_Ideas
    r/microsaas
    r/indiehackers
    r/ProductHunters
    r/alphaandbetausers

And of course, if you publish content, you increase your chances of them contacting you.

  4. Attend Product Hunt meetups.

Some cities in Europe/the US have Product Hunt meetups. If you can, try to attend. And if there aren’t any organize one. I’m sure there are Product Hunt fans in your country you’ve never even suspected.

  5. Read newsletters from Product Hunt creators.

Nika has one, and through her you’ll often discover interesting people she mentions or who comment there.

@byalexai This is super helpful, thank you!
I do have one question, though.
People who are planning a launch, how early do they usually start engaging and reaching out? Just trying to understand what actually works :(

Maria Anosova 🔥

@byalexai Where can I find information on Product Hunt meetups?

Aleksandar Blazhev

Hope we will have more in 2026

@byalexaiHope so

Dorothy M. Danforth

@byalexai Oh, this is very helpful. I'm so hesitant to sound like a spammy jerk even though I want to be part of good conversations and build a network so anything that helps me reach out naturally is so, so appreciated!

Ansh Deb

@byalexai I really need to get active on X. For some reason, I've never enjoyed it for whatever reason. I guess, I just prefer long form content better, but these communities look really cool. Not from a self promo POV, but literally to hang out with like minded people

Nika

@byalexai Alex, I knew you would drop a gem. You didn't disappoint. You are the best!! Thank you!

Maria Anosova 🔥

Great recommendations, thank you!

I noticed that recently, when you hover your cursor over a user, their social media accounts are displayed. Very convenient.

Before, you had to go to their profile to see if they had any contacts there.

Nika

@maria_anosova yes, I have to say that it increased my trust to people :)

Vitaliy Mokosiy

@maria_anosova Nice tip! Thanks :)

Being active on PH is very helpful. New connections and discussions will continue to grow each day. I also believe that the strategy of finding people through those who are actively engaged is quite effective. But I believe the most important strategy is time :)

Nika

@ixord Being here over time is the only way to build a personal brand and credibility.

Hemantha Vijay

Thanks for bringing up this topic @busmark_w_nika - it’s super helpful for anyone planning to launch on Product Hunt soon, like me 😄. From my experience, out of all the ways to connect, the most effective is through social media. I know this approach is common but everyone follows it because it really works. Almost everyone I’ve reached out to responds politely, often saying ‘let’s support each other.’ It’s really great to see how the community genuinely helps one another.

Nika

@hemantha_vijay1 Have you also tried email?

Bal Balaji

I was given to understand that success on PH is based on whether the internal PH Team promotes you or not. Is that true?

Nika

@bal_balaji you need to convince them that your product meets the guideline rules. Innovative, useful, not generic etc :)

Petros Koufolampros

Number 5 is interesting!

I wasn't aware of any WA, Tele, Singal PH groups. Are they open to join them or do you need an invite?

Nika

@petros_kouf To be honest, I do not use them, so I dunno whether there is any shareable link, but some of them used to be accessible via browsing on the internet.
