Hey Product Hunters! 👋
Imagine this:
I’m building a tool for doctors to analyze patients' food diaries using Claude 3 AI.
The first step? Convert those files to plain text.
But as a no-coder using Bubble and Make, my options were zero fun:
• Subscriptions starting at $49/mo
• Tools focused on trendy OCR but failing with simple CSVs
• No luck with large or non-English docs
Result: weeks wasted trying to find and test a decent API
...only to see them break in production.
So I teamed up with a coder friend and we created Unfile.
Highlights:
• Pay Once, Use Forever: No subscriptions.
• Single Endpoint: We automatically detect the file type.
• Supports CSV, XLSX, DOCX, TXT: All converted to plain text.
• No-Code Friendly: Includes easy step-by-step guides for Bubble and Make.
Unfile is designed for speed and simplicity. Try our free unlimited demo right in your browser and see for yourself.
What documents do you need converted? Let us know what to tackle next!

Congrats on your launch!
Looks sort of like OneSimpleAPI but for all things docs to text? Super neat.
Was just commenting yesterday to someone that company Asana's/Docs/etc can just be converted to text and fed to a LLM to see high ROI opportunities! Congrats again :)

@esus Thanks Esus!
That's the idea!
Make those files usable for AI without building your own custom converters or using overfeatured & pricy enterprise solutions.
Congratulations on the launch, Nikita, Susanna, and Alexander!
Unfile seems like a game-changer for document conversion with its no-subscription model and no-code friendly setup. The pain point you addressed with Unfile is very relatable. As a founder of SiteForge, I understand the importance of simplicity and efficiency in tools like yours.
I'm curious, what inspired you to create Unfile, and what has been the most rewarding part of the development process so far?
Looking forward to seeing Unfile disrupt the document conversion landscape!

Thanks for your kind words Albert!
The story is pretty simple. We were building Sito (joinsito.com), an app for doctors to analyze their patients' food diaries with AI.
So we had to deliver those diaries to AI first and their APIs don't work with files.
We couldn't find a good solution to extract text from those files so we created our own solution.
Then quickly realized we weren't alone with this problem so Unfile was born.
And we wanted maximum simplicity so we just wrapped the bare-bones version into a one-time-purchase offer and here were are.
The most rewarding part is that we use the tool ourselves all the time which makes working on Unfile feel great
