TeamDynamics

The personality test for modern teams.

There’s no “I” in team, so why are we still using individual personality tests from the 1950s in the modern workplace? Think of TeamDynamics as a team personality test. Instead of focusing on the personality of an individual (like Big Five, MBTI, Enneagram, and others), TeamDynamics assesses the “personality” of the collective group. TeamDynamics captures the realities of how teams get work done today, with insights to help you build your team and manage it better.

Hey Product Hunters! 👋 A few of us got together to build a tool to help teams understand, and improve, how they communicate and collaborate to get stuff done 🧑‍💻🛠️🚀. It’s called TeamDynamics! 💡 We’ve always found individual personality tests (MBTI, Enneagram, Big Five, etc.) useful for understanding ourselves and our 1:1 interactions with others (even if they might not be 100% scientific). But they don't capture the 1:N / N:1 / N:N dynamics that emerge when you mix together a bunch of personalities to sprint at a goal. And isn't knowing how to work with that special spark 🪄✨ a big part of being on an awesome team 🤔...? We built TeamDynamics to fill that gap. It: 🎯 Gives the user a framework for understanding the “personality” of your team across the types of interactions that matter most in today’s teamwork-oriented environments. 🎯 Offers suggestions for how you can get more done and have more fun while doing it — both as a group and as an individual — based on your team's personality. --- The “single-player” experience is free to try all month and we'd love to hear your thoughts! 🧠 Do your TeamDynamics results resonate with you? 📮 Would you invite your team to take this (why or why not)? 📝 Would this be helpful in defining team norms? Onboarding new hires? Coaching team members? Other use cases? 🤑 (Oh and by the way, Product Hunters can get 5️⃣0️⃣% off when they invite their teams this month!) --- We’ve had a lot of fun using TeamDynamics with our teams, and we hope it helps yours, too. Thanks for giving it a look! 🙏

Awesome product idea! Why hasn't somebody done this before?? It's such a great tool for teams to use. I'm excited to try it out. Congrats on the launch!
Christopher Morrison
@jrockwood we had the same thought! Let us know what you think of your results!

Just tried this out, results seemed pretty spot on for me. Will give it a try with my team; we have our Q1 retreat coming up so will get the team to complete it during our “ways of working” sesh. Any types of teams you’re seeing more traction with? And I know a criticism of things like MBTI is that your type changes as you age… how consistent are the results over time?
Christopher Morrison
@kjam_ 🙏 for giving it a try! Let us know how it works out with your team! We're seeing the most traction with teams of people that do real work together everyday, i.e., the cross-functional growth team of 6-8 people (across product, design, engineering, etc.) rather than, say, an entire 8-person product org (who don't really work together that much day-to-day). We've also seen a lot of interest from HR leaders looking to deploy a solution like this across their orgs. We haven't been live long enough to have long-term time series data, but we expect there to be some evolution of a team's Dynamics over time -- and in fact that's by design. After all, team compositions change, companies go through different stages, etc.!

Very cool product!! Makes a lot of sense to actually measure the team instead of doing individual tests and just jamming them together as an afterthought. Congrats on the launch!!

Amazing idea! Team building is always something we need to strive to achieve and this tool can definitely help. Do you think that in the future it can evolve into (or have a version of) a type of whole company dynamics review? Since then I guess also the questions and criteria would be a bit different.
Christopher Morrison
@veselin_kostov that's exactly the sort of more-advanced analysis we're able to offer through our Enterprise solution: evaluating the prevailing behavioral norms within an organization's different functions, understanding how much variation there is across teams, and the like. To do that, we collect some organization-level information and map responses into relevant categories (function, team, job type/level, and so on). As you might imagine, it leads to some pretty engaging insights, and often spurs a spirited debate about organizational culture and behavioral norms!
