Love how Shopify continues to expand its offering with distinct products like this. 👍🏼 This makes sense for Shopify to offer to their customers but I'm curious how it connects back to the platform (if at all). I.e. Why would people use this over something like Canva for graphic design?

@rrhoover Canva for a while can still remain a superior product. It survived Adobe's attempts (Adobe spark) and showed a better design DNA. The interesting evolution to look forward is automating the creation of marketing content with Taler and then extending it to automated distribution (hubspot killer). I am looking forward to a scenario where a Shopify merchant can generate marketing content with couple of clicks for all possible channels and distribute them with few more clicks. This scenario will hit canva and hubspot the hardest. Use of AI is another interesting trend to look for in this scenario.

@rrhoover well. with a closer look, it seems they are using PhotoEditor SDK. So, that means this is just customized photo editor sdk powered photo editor. While Canva is a 100% original software, this is just a customized UI using PhotoEditor SDK.

Really cool idea! great for merchants just starting in social posting. My question would be... to what end is Shopify going to develop this. I dont think this is a Canva killer but it certainly can add value to Shopify merchants off the bat. Is there a plan to monetize fonts, assets etc?
