👋 Hey, Dhruv here, co-founder Obvious (https://obvious.in) . We've built and strategised for the biggest names (and unicorns) in Southeast Asia, including Wikipedia, GoJek, Myntra, Dunzo, and Swiggy. But today, we're launching our first-ever homegrown product, Pause, that solves a problem that's intimate to any startup or remote team. Thanks @kevin for the hunt! With remote teams, there's no end to the tools we can use to be more efficient, productive, motivated... you get the drill. But time-off tools are almost always an afterthought — that is, until information gaps and unplanned absences wreak havoc on project plans. 🤔 The problem When you use all-in-one HR tools and spreadsheet hacks, some pretty hair-raising stuff happens: - When applying for time off is complicated, teams don't take a break - You lose track of who's in and who's out, and plans start to suffer - Overworked teammates start feeling burnt out and unhappy more often than usual - Too many features overwhelm your team and the pricing makes you cry These scarily common problems hamper the well-being of high-autonomy teams. We've been there — and so had our beta testers, who came back with fantastic responses after using Pause. Which brings us to... 💡 The solution Pause is team-first, anti-burnout and pro-recharging. 🤝 Why your leadership will love Pause: - Immediate and long-term visibility into teams' availability - 'Lock dates' to mark critical project days - Powerful Slack and Calendar integrations - Clear leave policies to promote transparency - Concise leave records, all in one place - Startup-friendly pricing and no hidden charges 💪 Why your team will love Pause: - 3-click application processes and 1-click approval - Burnout alerts in case of long gaps between vacation days - Instant notifications of teammates on a break on Slack - Birthday, work anniversary and public holiday alerts - Dedicated Slack bot to book time off and check vacation balance - Automatic 🌴 'away' emoji on Slack as a universal DND signal We want Pause to become a front-runner of new-age software that puts team happiness, productivity and well-being first. @heavyinfo Thanks Abishek!

All the best makers, Does this have a slack integration?
Vishwanath
Heyy @ajeyasriganesh yes that's one of our key features! Here's a video explaining all about it. We'd love for you to give it a try and let us know what you think 😊

Awesome idea and wonderful explanatory video ( who is behind this) ?

@oyeakhil Thank you so much! It was a team effort but in particular, a hat tip to @elson_ds and @vishwanath_p for the outstanding visuals 🏅

@oyeakhil Pause is Obvious' (www.obvious.in) brainchild, after running a consultancy for almost a decade. We're glad you loved the video! We had 3 of our best working on it 🎉

Tried this out, slick interface and looking forward to on-boarding my small team onto this. Congrats on the launch! Using a Google Calendar is such a sub-optimal solution for tracking leaves; still requires manual accounting and doesn't really remind folks of the un-used leaves. Here's a problem I had recently: I still use Google Calendar for sending invites, so it'd great if I can know when someone isn't available on a particular date or at a time (since that data will be on Pause). Could definitely do without the back-and-forth. Any chance you folks are planning a solution for this?
Kanika Tibrewala
Hey Shreyas, thanks for your detailed comment. We have a Google Calendar Integration that allows you to view your own leaves, leaves of your teammates and also auto-decline meetings on the days you're on leave through our product. It's super easy to integrate with G-Cal. Find more on our website www.getpause.com in the features list.
Dhruv Saxena
@ss42 Hey Shreyas! Yes, with Pause, users can set their google calendar meetings to be declined when they are on leave. So, in case someone takes time off on a day they had meetings, other people in that meeting will be notified. Hope this helps 🙏

I love the simplicity and focus of the product but does this ultimately become a feature of broader HR management software like Gusto?
Dhruv Saxena
@rrhoover there are a few tools in the space that have survived, maybe because a lot of startups like to keep things simple for long as they can and they don't need a lot of features, just a few well thought out ones. Everyone takes about 10-15% of their work year as time off and smart businesses that'd like to treat that time with care will hopefully see the value in Pause. Thanks for your question 😅. It is one of those that does make us worry a little but we're hopeful that Pause will survive 🤞
Vishwanath
@rrhoover @dhruvraisaxena To add to it, it's a question we've asked ourselves as we built Pause. We see that HR functions are interdependent, like payroll on time-off on performance appraisal. But they also need to walk a thin line that balances culture and compliance. With Pause, we've tried to lean towards the culture part of that line, which in many ways can be very company-specific and fluid especially in the early to mid-stages. That's where we're hoping Pause as a thin slice HR tool is able to stay light while connecting back to an HR tool for compliance aspects. Hopefully, as @dhruvraisaxena mentioned, we'll be here to stay :)
