Review OpusClip?
OpusClip is highly praised for its efficiency in transforming long videos into engaging short clips with minimal effort. Users appreciate its intuitive interface and time-saving capabilities, particularly for social media content creation. The tool's automated features, such as scene detection and customizable templates, are frequently highlighted for producing professional results without extensive editing skills. However, some users have noted issues with recent updates affecting functionality and customer support. Overall, OpusClip is recommended for its ability to streamline video editing and enhance productivity for content creators.
This is a fantastic product.
I know it mentions that music videos are not good candidates, but - I disagree: the cuts were great. It identified some 'juicy' and fun interactions between the leads in the music video, as well as highlighting the unique choruses used in the song.
I could see this used by managers or labels to help promote music, as well as a bunch of other entertainment industry uses.
I have used it and am a big fan. In the same week that someone reached out and said their agency could do the exact same thing as Opus Clip does but would charge me a small fortune, I discovered Opus which charges way less and is very good! I can highly recommend!
You hooked me - this is something I've been looking everywhere for! A smart way to price as well!
I just processed my first video and I must say, the experience is super simple, slick, and unique. Well done! 🙂
Use this service for half year for now and, some kind its good for do transcripts but, for making reels from it its bad on my language. I use it only for subtitles, and there is also bad, not too much options, not creative at all. My reels doesn't look like most popular ones. Can't cut lines where I want. Easy to use for that options it have.
What needs improvement
More fonts, more templates, all templates to can make from zero in templates editor. Need to choose new line when I need it, to put more words in one line if I want it. There is name of my country (two words) sometimes in one line sometimes in two lines in same reel/project, Why? Need to use different language for transcript (croatian instead of serbian) because sometimes mixes cyrillic and latin script.
I made mistake, but buy it for a year. Captions is much better for work I need. I was think to Opus will do reels for me, what captions cant, but I didn't made 10 good reels for half year...
Can I edit captions’ style, timing, and accuracy easily?
Yes
How often does it misinterpret speech or add wrong captions?
One of the most disappointing products I’ve used — Opus Clip.
Sure, they hand you 150 credits on the Starter Plan, and say "1 credit = 1 video". Sounds fair, right?
But here’s the hidden trap:
Want to add more than 2 b-roll clips in a 1-minute video? — Upgrade to Pro.
Want to merge two clips together? — Upgrade to Pro.
Want to add an intro or outro to your video? — Upgrade to Pro.
Want to upload a simple stock image or video? — Yep… Pro again.
Even basic editing features are locked behind paywalls. It’s like giving you 150 tokens to walk into a buffet, but every plate costs extra.
Even free tools like CapCut let you do 10x more for zero rupees.
I got excited thinking this was the best AI video tool in the market.
Instead, I got upsell popups at every turn and zero real experience of the product.
If you’re serious about content avoid wasting your time. This isn’t a tool, it’s a funnel to upsell you at every click.
At first, this program was amazing, but with each system upgrade, it has gone from better to worse, and customer service is useless for me now. Give you an example, TikTok over the last 90 days, not one video has been accepted and requires editing, but when I download the same video clip from Opus and manually upload it to TikTok, I have no problems at all and Opus had no problems before its upgrades and yet they keep placing the blame on TikTok so now I have to find another service provider, so much for being valued as a customer.

Alright, so I'm an old user of this tool, and since they new editor release on June of 2024, they introduced so many issues.
Main issue: their tool used to be very very clever, with framing, split screens, and it cuts, you almost didn't need to edit anything in the clips, just minimal adjusts.
Now, the framing its normally wrong, the split screen does not detect the second speaker, and more issues.
I've opened multiple tickets reporting bugs and pain points to the team, they fixed some, now they just release a new update and broke the framing again and the schedule tool
You need to improve your release system and QA
Since a couple of months, the program has gone downward a LOT.
Where I would get good cut clips, I now get clips that are mirroring the same image, are way too stretched etc. When you then go to edit the clip, to make it how you want it to look (mind you this program is so you don't have to go in and edit and save time), then after downloading the clip, it looks entirely different. Have been contacting their staff for multiple things, but the only thing they keep offering are more credits. I can't even use my old credits as I'm not putting anything out due to the amount of issues this tool has! Before that I had to point out to them that some things weren't in their ToS while their customer representative said they were. after asking about that another time to the same person, where it actually resided there; I got ignored.

If I could give Opus Clip 6/5 Stars I would!
First Experience:
My first experience with Opus Clip was very beginner friendly. Due to their program assigning free credits upon creation of an account, you are able to experiment with the software before having to purchase anything and without having to do a sketchy "free trial".
The Actual Program:
The program is very sophisticated and creates clips with an almost jaw-dropping speed (even with a free account). In addition to this, the clips don't seem out of place or lacking in context, but rather have their own miniature stories, even though taken from longer form content.
The Time Save:
The thing that Opus Clip does the best, though, is saving you time. Before using opus, i had used 30 minutes creating each clip (though i was not very good at it). In contrast to this, i was able to receive 30 clips in a rather short period of time.
The Future:
Within the social media space, this is bound to make a great impact. To make a long story short, this program allows someone without any knowledge of editing create Industry Standard clips, all while saving a bunch of time. I look forward to seeing this program evolve!

I've been testing out Opus on and off for a while and in general it does a great job. It's ideal if you've a talking head video you want cutting up into shorts, it does a good job of selecting interesting clips and adding subtitles to them.
I've been using it on a Pilates channel, which isn't really what it's for and it sometimes struggles, but I've still managed to get some great usable shorts out of our long form videos.
A great time saver that removes the need for lots of editing and converting to vertical format.

TLDR:
☝️ Opus allows you to repurpose content FASTER than most other similar softwares that are out today
☝️ Opus understands clips better than most other softwares where you get a clip and it's a half of a sentence, or in the middle of a thought. Opus delivers great clips that are coherent.
☝️ Opus UX is fantastic and is easy to use.
I have used Opus Clip for a little over two weeks. I have a podcast and need to repurpose content for various channels including Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn.
What I 💛 about OPUS Clip: Super easy to use. they really spent time focusing on the UX, especially when uploading your full-length video. Adding subtitles or adjusting them are very easy and with a few clicks you have 10 pieces of content. Active speaker detection is a AWESOME feature and is very helpful when you have two or more people talking.
What I scratch my head about using Opus🤔: The Ai Virality score is cool but is a bit misleading. How do they know that the clip is going to go viral? The emoji use can be a bit overdone but that's nothing that I can go in and remove.
Overall 5 ⭐ or 5 🌮
IMHO:
Opus rocks and I will continue to keep using it.
