Cold DMs made me over $100,000 alone this year. I cold DMed my way into working for startups and venture capital firms with no college degree and no connections. A lot of people were asking me how. That's why I made this guide to share with my friends.

@iamjasonlevin1 How can I use cold DMs and emails to grow my newsletter?
Macklin Buckler
@iamjasonlevin1 @austin_schlessinger I'd be curious to know how to use cold email to generate value for potential customers. What's something useful I could send them? Of course, it comes down to a number of factors, but typically would be cool to see what the sequence could look like
Jason Levin
@austin_schlessinger Send cold DMs to people you think would like ur newsletter to set up phone calls to chat! Hop on the phone, talk about life and become friendly, then ask them to subscribe at the end. You get a new friend and a new subscriber! Win-win!

@macklin_buckler2 would definitely try using a lead magnet PDF guide! This cold DMs guide started out as a lead magnet on twitter and got 300 downloads!

@iamjasonlevin1 how would you cold dm journalists to review your product?
Ryan Hoover
What's the biggest mistake people make when cold emailing, @iamjasonlevin1?
Jason Levin
@rrhoover biggest mistake: writing long DMs that waste the recipient’s time I keep my DMs short 1-2 sentences max. It shows that you value the recipient’s time (and place value on your own as well) 2nd biggest mistake: using AI to send DMs thinking they’re being smart or efficient when they’re just wasting time and money
Debbie Akamine
@rrhoover @iamjasonlevin1 I purchased your ebook a few days ago and loved it! I was surprised to find out that is important to keep DMs short. I loved your approach...very straight-forward :)
Andrew Ginn
@iamjasonlevin1 did you ever send any cold dms/emails early on just say Hey, I don't necessarily have a proposition for you other than i'm just following my curiosity and creating/writing and would love any thoughts you have. Any responses? Seems like that could be a good challenge early on for anyone just looking to stay on it
Jason Levin
@pizzamiheart No, it’s a waste of time for the recipient. Sometimes I’ll DM someone just to hop on the phone or grab coffee because I want to be their friend, but I never DM them just to “pick their brain”. They’ve got better stuff to do
Andrew Ginn
@iamjasonlevin1 Friends are nice
Jason Levin
@pizzamiheart Yup, some of my best friends come from the internet haha.
Nico Muoio
Congrats on the launch! This looks sick.

@nicomuoio thanks Nico!!
Avidan Rudansky
I cold DM'd Jason a while back. He never responded. Wish I had this guide then!
Jason Levin
@avidan_rudansky hah!! Glad we finally connected. 🫡🤝

Excited to check this out! What’s the best way to follow up after no response to cold dm?
Jason Levin
@jordanmykleby Tbh send 1 more DM and then stop. Engage with their work on social media, but don't send anymore DMs. Eventually, they'll probably end up following you or DMing you and apologizing for ignoring you. Most of the time "ignoring" is just a genuine accident and a product of them being overwhelmed by DMs. In my opinion, it's better to wait it out and be patient than spam someone and risk losing a potential relationship.
Jacob Peters
who should i cold dm about my new company
Jason Levin
@j__cub since you're building a health brand, I'm dropping a few health-related recs · @austin_schlessinger is a health-tech writer you should talk to ASAP, happy to make the intro. · Melody Song is a solid writer focused on mental health and psychedelics. · Anthony Vennare from Fitt Insider. He knows everyone in the industry and has a good health pod and blog you could get on at some point.
