👋 Hey Product Hunt community! 🎉 Today, we're happy to launch Eclipse on the App Store and Product Hunt. 🎉 💳 Managing multiple credit cards is intimidating! The average American has more than 3 credit cards and knowing exactly which one to use can take time and effort. Different cards offer different cash back values or points at different stores. Even applying for the right card can be time-consuming. We built Eclipse with the user in mind—without the need to connect with banks or provide secure card details while keeping our app completely free. 🎯 Eclipse simplifies this all, helping you optimize your credit cards at every purchase and store. You no longer have to remember which card gives you 2% at grocery stores or 1.5% at the gas station. 🌎 When abroad, Eclipse can help you avoid excessive foreign transaction fees. Eclipse takes care of everything, making your credit card usage a breeze. 🔖 When you're not shopping, Eclipse can also help you find new great cards to streamline the application process. Need help figuring out where to start? The Eclipse Credit Card wiki lets you learn about all the different credit cards available at your fingertips. 📍 Want to know what card to use before you even get there? Eclipse's search feature allows you to find nearby stores and see which card will give you the most bang for your buck. Eclipse even gives you the directions to get there. ⏰ Eclipse also helps you avoid incurring interest on your credit card balance by allowing you to set payment dates and stay ahead of the curve. ⚡ Need to pay quickly? The Eclipse Autopilot allows you to see the optimal card for payment without even opening your phone or the app. 💰 Using Eclipse, you could earn up to 1000$ a year in cash back and point value. We would love for y'all to try Eclipse. Comment any feedback or reach out at info@eclipsecard.net and we will be in touch right away! Hey Krish, I appreciate the emphasis on user-friendly features and avoiding the need to connect bank details. How does Eclipse handle updates on new offers and changes in credit card benefits? Are there plans to expand into other financial products in the future?
Krish Kodali
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo - thanks for the question! Our app uses publicly available information on credit cards published by banks and card providers and updates as this information changes. We spend a lot of time vetting these changes to your point. As for other financial products: debit and gift cards, as well as loyalty programs are some of the things we are planning to integrate in the near future. Hope this answers your question!

@kyrylosilin @krishkodali Hi Kyrylo, that's a great thought and actually wouldn't be too challenging for us to implement soon, from a technical point of view. We'd love to get back to you soon about it!

Congrats on the launch Krish, happy to see this here! With increasing concerns around data privacy, what measures does Eclipse take to ensure it remains ahead regarding security and user trust, particularly with sensitive financial data?
Luke Wang
@virajpatel Hi Viraj - great question! We've taken a hard look at this problem and noticed that this was a common concern among credit card apps. We are using an unique information first approach that doesn't require any sensitive financial data from the user, which allows us to still give all our features without compromising security. You can read our privacy policy on our website https://www.eclipsecard.net. Hope this answers your question!

💡 Bright idea
Awesome idea guys! I'm curious, I know some other apps do this, but if there is a way you could automatically select all the deals they have in the portals you could present them almost like coupons. It's always such a pain having to keep track of that stuff. The dream would be using just one tap with something that is "Eclipse Card (Station Control)" but it essentially just sorts the transaction to whatever card so the person doesn't have to think about it. I don't know if you could get information from a potential transaction before it goes through to see the business or what it codes as but that would be amazing. I guess the next best thing is just GPS and it is guess but I think that would be hard if someone was in a mall for instance. It seems digital with a chrome extension is a great way to circumnavigate this physical store problem. I think this would be a no brainer product for anyone if it selects every deal in these reward portals, it has on its map deals (percentage back or money) so someone could direct their purchases to there, and you handle what card the purchase goes to, and then suggest cards to apply to get more value since you'll be understanding what people are buying to maximize rewards. It'd be like automated coupons on steroids. Great idea and good job! And the other black hole would be travel points/card purchases, but I imagine that could be a goal to hit further down the field.
Luke Wang
@kylefcords Hey Kyle - this is amazing feedback! We noticed that a lot of other apps who have attempted selecting deals experience a lot of security concerns and banking issues. On top of that, their subscriptions are always quite expensive, and we really wanted to build Eclipse with the user in mind. This is something we'd keep in mind as we begin to partner with banks. The "Eclipse Card" idea you mentioned is really at the core of what inspired us, and we decided at a digital wallet would be the best way to get started in this field. We're currently using GPS data as a way to provide real-time transaction recommendations, and also noticed the difficulties with congested spaces like malls. We're addressing this issue by implementing indoor mapping software like MappedIn to solve this problem as we move forward! Linking to Apple Wallet directly (ie directing you to the optimal card) would be a matter of time as we gain traction. Currently, the app directs you to Apple Wallet as a shortcut after recommendation. We actually do consider travel points with custom point values to get accurate optimizations across all cards within each points program, across hundreds of available credit cards. We're looking to further expand this with transaction history data and travel insurance further down the line. Thanks so much and I hope this answers everything!

It's certainly been adventure getting here, but it's definitely been rewarding! :)
