Dope Brands

I built this to scratch an itch. (A persistent itch that's lasted more than 5 years.) 🟦 Lend me your👂 ears for a quick story about how this all got started... A few years ago I was consulting with 🛍 DTC (direct-to-consumer) e-commerce brands and helping them go to market and grow. This was during a 🌋 seismic explosion of new DTC brands. The 🖥 internet was finally lined up with traditional manufacturing and logistics trends - Shopify sat in the middle of it all. I was living and breathing this DTC world. I was always 👀 hunting new brands and looking at how they market themselves. So I built up a *very* big database in Airtable, filled with DTC brands I'd manually curated for myself. A database that's now 1400+ active emerging DTC brands. 🟦 Database >> Shopping List Naturally, that database became my family shopping list - anytime we're looking for something we check these brands to see if we find anything compelling. ~80% of the stuff we 💸 buy is DTC now. Furniture 🪑 from Article, shoes 👟 from Casca, rugs from Ruggable, snacks 🍪 from like 20 different brands. Toddler clothes 👶, coffee ☕️, skincare, strollers (yeah we have 3), baby formula 🍼, art, art supplies. Toilet paper. Socks, shirts, sweats, coats, hats. All. The. Things. Seriously, I walk through Target and make a mental list of things I think that DTC brands might be producing. 🟦 Why Dope Brands? Share the wealth, mainly. I'm constantly recommending brands to friends - this is a way to do that in a way that's more permanent word-of-mouth.
