How many of you are gonna invest into your YouTube marketing in 2026?

I realised how important videos are in search results.

This and the previous week, we reached out to many creators for custom videos on various topics that include the client's product. (I gained some overview about prices for such a video and need to say that if things go well, it can be a good investment in the long term).

  • How many of you are going to invest in YouTube next year, and what results do you expect from that?

  • Are you going to create your own channel/videos or collaborate with creators from outside?

If you already have a channel, feel free to share and shortly outline the results and the way you approach creating videos.

We used to think of YouTube as a place to park our videos. More recently, we learned how important it is from a marketing and SEO strategy perspective. Especially for a pre-seed startup like us with a nonexistent marketing budget, content is our most valuable asset.

So we have been building a content library over the last months, posted our first few YouTube shorts, and started making more tutorials. We will lean much more heavily into that in the coming months.

Here is our YouTube channel:

Would love feedback!

Nika

@amy_ingram I would personally try a different style of thumbnail. At the moment, it seems like you screenshotted some part of the video and placed it as a thumbnail.

Amy Ingram
@busmark_w_nika thank you for the feedback! I was assuming for the tutorials it would be better to design a cover image, correct?
Nika

@amy_ingram yes, I think that something more eye-grabbing :)

Amy Ingram

@busmark_w_nika Thank you! I will work on that after our PH launch. Really appreciate your thoughtful feedback!

Nika

@amy_ingram You are welcome, Amy! :)

@amy_ingram We're doing the same - YouTube is where our how-to videos live, but as we prep formal GTM, we now are planning content videos that really address the needs of our users and advance their goals. We're looking forward to the shift.

Amy Ingram

@dmitchaYes! We are working on the same. It is kind of time consuming to create all that contenct, make good visuals and figure which content works best, but slow and steady wins the race ;-)

DMA Anderson

@amy_ingram Exactly - we're exploring AI platforms to make it faster and haven't found a fit yet. Here's to getting a good system going

Great question, Nika — video keeps getting more important, especially for search visibility and building trust.

I’m planning to put more focus on YouTube in 2026 as well. I haven’t invested much money into my channel yet — mostly just my time (which honestly feels like the biggest investment of all). But even with that, I already see the long-term potential.

I recently started a niche channel where I show real Jira workflows, automation tips, and Data Center plugin testing in action:

For now I’m creating all videos myself, but I’m open to collaborations if the topic aligns with Atlassian tools, migrations, QA, or productivity automation.

Early results I’m noticing:

  • Steady inbound traffic from people searching for very specific Jira issues

  • Faster “trust building” when explaining complex setups

  • Videos working better than long technical posts for demonstrating plugins

YouTube feels like a compounding asset — consistent effort today can pay off for years.
Curious how others are planning their 2026 video strategy!

Nika

@artiom_aleksandrovici It feels like you have a complex, solid plan. To be honest, I want to complete the 30 short videos I recorded in June. Currently filtering those right snippets from at least 500 recordings. Yesterday, I completed filtering for 15 shorts. 15 to go and then, edit them :D

Artiom Aleksandrovici

@busmark_w_nika Yes, I do! My goal is to help users reduce the time they spend testing Jira configuration changes and plugin updates — and most importantly, prevent mistakes teams might make when testing changes in production, along with the costs of fixing them. I’m sharing my tool through shorts and other formats as well. It’s not easy work, but I wish you good luck with yours. By the way, what’s the theme of your reels?

Nika

@artiom_aleksandrovici I have that concept of talking head. About marketing :)

Tetiana

Hello Nika, we do both: short and long videos. People usually watch shorts for quick impressions and long videos for tutorials. We also ask influencers to test the product and share an honest review. We believe both formats matter, and it's a long-term strategy, but we’re ready to invest in it.

Amy Ingram

@tetiana_hryshmanovska how do you get influencers to test the product? I have tried a few times and don't get replies.

Tetiana

@amy_ingram I’ve asked many of them. Some influencers do it for investment, and some simply need good content. We have a free product, which is why they see the value in showing it to their audience. But I must confess, I have to write to a lot of them before I get a positive reply or any action.

Nika

@amy_ingram  @tetiana_hryshmanovska That's true. I wrote to about 100 people and heard back like 15% of them. (and I even mentioned that collab is paid in the subject line of the mail).

Amy Ingram
@tetiana_hryshmanovska thank you for sharing! That is very helpful. I just need to be persistent & wrote a lot of people 😉.
Tetiana

@amy_ingram Yes, that's right! One thing I did was write comments on videos - sometimes I contacted creators directly, and other times I just left a comment.

Amy Ingram
@tetiana_hryshmanovska that’s clever. Haven’t tried that yet. Thank you for sharing your tips 😊.
Nika

@tetiana_hryshmanovska How many content creators do you want to work with? We also reached out to Medium writers.

Tetiana

@busmark_w_nika The more creators make a video or write an article, the better it is for us. We don’t have a specific target - I just keep doing it continuously :D
But I haven’t contacted Medium writers yet. Could you please share some advice on how that worked for you?

Nika

@tetiana_hryshmanovska actually, I did it the same way as for the YouTube creators. I just tried to find popular articles on the topic of digital detox.

Lucas Oliveira

I'll greatly invest on youtube. My plan is to create a video everyday about my projects that I'm launching here

Nika

@lucas_oliveira10 also edited? Because when you do everything on your own (script, recording, editing, distribution) – it is quite time-consuming to complete it in one day.

Alex Troitsky

I guess by longterm promotion you mean long videos or shorts? I guess shorts are short-term investments, long video are long-term investments, cause shorts don't get much SEO.

Nika

@alextroitsky As you said, but I have to say that when you search on YouTube, the platform shows Shorts as well and quite often, look:

Invest primarily in long form, but do not underestimate short form as well.

Ping He

Youtube is our best user traffic and for SEO, period.

It's good enough that we are building our own pipeline to make shorts in-house - 30-50s long high def shorts with full creative control (script, image, voice, captioning, etc) from prompts to rendered video in 5-10min each.

Nika

@makerping What is your channel, and do you create long-form in your own?

Miguel Angel Romero

I use Youtube as if it was just another social media. But I only add there videos...That is the only difference. I think I am adding around 3 videos a week! And I am a super small startup with no revenue. Before everything started I had already about 12 tutorials and now I add those 3 videos a week.

Nika

@miguel_angel_romero1 What's your channel Miguel, and what are the outcomes? :) any special tips?

Miguel Angel Romero

@busmark_w_nika we are using 7 different social medias at the same time. My YouTube channel is named Panbit and the outcomes in YouTube are none. Practically not views. I think the only ones that get some traction are the short ones.

Nika

@miguel_angel_romero1 Which social media works best for you?

charles shiro

A significant portion of Google's search traffic originates from YouTube content. YouTube content creation deserves greater recognition.

Nika

@charles_ That's why I want to invest (at least) in Shorts.
