Time v1.1.0 - Date picker, airport code search, and dismissible calendar events
Hey everyone!
Just shipped a big update to Time (v1.1.0), and I wanted to share what's new.
You can get the latest version at https://menubartime.com.
Date Picker for Time Scroller
This was one of the most requested features. You can now click on the date ("now" label) in the time scroller to open a calendar picker and see how time zones align on any future (or past) date. Super useful for planning meetings across time zones or checking when DST kicks in.
Airport Code Search
You can now search for time zones using 3-letter airport codes e.g: JFK, LAX, LHR, etc. Added over 5,500 airports worldwide. This came from my own frustration of always googling "what timezone is CDG in" when booking flights. Also, some users from china reported that Apple's mapkit doesn't work the same way there, so this is a workaround for them.
Dismiss Calendar Events
Right-click any calendar event to dismiss it from your menu bar. Dismissed events move to a separate section and can be restored anytime. No more cluttered menu bar when you've already joined a meeting.
Menu Bar Right-Click Menu
Right-click any menu bar item to quickly access About, License, Preferences, or Quit.
Other bits:
- Arrow keys now navigate search results
- Better date display (actual dates instead of "Tomorrow" when looking further out)
- Various bug fixes
Important note: If you're on v1.0.2 or earlier, auto-update won't work due to a sandboxing fix. Grab the latest from https://menubartime.com.
What features would you like to see next?

This update looks awesome. I've personally wanted a date picker for time zone planning, so that's a big win for me. Airport code search is clever too, I've definitely googled that more times that I want to admit. Great progress overall.

@itohan_blessing_eigbadon Thank you so much. I’m really happy to hear this and glad the update is useful for you.
I've been using Time regularly and this update fixes a few friction points I personally felt. Airport codes are a smart shortcut and the date picker makes planning way easier. It's clear you're listening to user feedback.
Thanks for the update and this great app! One feature that probably would be nice for people traveling between two timezones a lot would be to automatically always show the non-current timezone in the menu bar – since the current one is shown by the system anyways I wouldn't usually include the current timezone in my menu bar.

@dioncodes thanks for the kind words. This indeed is a very interesting idea and sounds like a useful feature. From a user point of view what would be the best way to implement this? I'm thinking there could be an option like "Auto-hide current time zone" in the preferences, when this is enabled, any timezone matching the machines local timezone would automatically hide from the menubar. I think it's possible to observe from the app if the timezone changes. The timezone would still appear in the popover, just not in the menubar. Also, if you have timezones which are identical like Budapest and Bratislava then this would still work because internally it would compare the IANA codes which would be different (Europe/Budapest vs Europe/Bratislava). Another option would be to have per-timezone setting, sounds like a bit more work and I don't think it makes sense to have that level of granularity. What do you think?
@kmikiyy I think the “Auto-hide current time zone in menu bar” option would work perfectly and is still simple UX-wise. I don’t think a time zone level setting would be necessary. Thanks for considering this!

@dioncodes i'll link a dev build later today, I think I got it working, you will be able to test it by changing your systems time zone
@kmikiyy Sounds good, thanks!
