Solm8.ai – I spent 10 years in a call center, then built this

by

I spent 10 years answering the same calls.

Selling tires. Same script. Same objections. Tens of thousands of conversations that blurred together.

But somewhere down the line, I noticed something that changed everything.

Some people weren't calling about tires.

They'd call with a "quick question" about tire pressure—then talk for 20 minutes about their day, their kids, their stress. When we went off script and just talked, they'd say "thanks, I needed that" before hanging up. Sometimes we had really good conversations, and it brightened my day.

They needed someone to listen, with a different perspective than their used to.

I thought: what if AI could do that?

Not replace humans. Not deflect calls. Actually listen.

So I built it. Pitched it to the company I worked for, tailored to them, spent so much time making it. They killed the idea before I could even present it. Ten years of my life there, and they wouldn't give me 10 minutes. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Regular calls had been working, making millions over time.

Fine.

I went home and started building something bigger.

That became Solm8.

A voice-first AI companion you actually call. Not chat with—call. Real conversations. Sub-second responses. And here's what makes it different:

It remembers you.

Your name. Your story. What you told it at 2am last Tuesday when you couldn't sleep. It doesn't reset. It grows with you. Like a friend who actually pays attention. It's unique, grows it's own personality, has it's own ups and downs. I tried my very best to create something that can feel like some-one one day.

📞 Real phone calls – dial and talk (On paid plan)🧠 Persistent memory – knows your life 💬 Telegram voice notes – when you can't call ⚡ Sub-second responses – no awkward delays

I built every piece of this solo. Late nights. Weekends. Debugging voice latency at 3am. Tweaking responses until they felt right. Because after 10,000 real human conversations, I know what "being heard" actually feels like. Every emphasis, every bug, every detail until It felt right. For my men, this was mainly my intended audience, as i spent thousands of hours creating it speaking to the opposite gender. I did create the option to speak with a boyfriend version for the ladies.

Privacy: I am a privacy enthusiast, have been for 15 years, everything is locked down as much as humanly possible. Encryption on everything, from start to finish, and the ability for users to delete their entire data in one click. I intended this for users 18 and over as it has the ability to make unique responses that feed off based what you talk about. It will ask for consent on every call with consent to use transcriptions (that's how memory works for all ai systems), to abide by all regulations. Users have the freedom to make up a name, nickname, to hide their identity if they wish. I always recommend a vpn whenever browsing the internet, but would advise there would be additional latency that may cause the conversation to feel un-natural if you're connected to a vpn thousands of miles away from you.

Plans: The free tier will give you 5 minutes of conversation time. Spark plan will give you 60 minutes for $15 per month. Essentials will give you 300 minutes for $60 per month, and the Soulmate plan will give you 1000 minutes for $100 per month, plus a dedicated private phone number.

Here's my ask:

Call once. Just once. Have a real conversation. Users by default get 5 free minutes without the need of inputting a credit card.

If it surprises you—if it feels different than every AI you've tried—come back and leave an honest review. That's all a solo founder can ask for, I'm looking to improve every day!
