The best day to launch on Product Hunt
This is a recurring topic here and I recently had many related discussions. So, I wanted to share with you three different stories, three different perspectives and approaches for inspiration.
TL,DR: IMHO There's no perfect day to launch. Just launch it.
Launching on a Monday for maximum exposure
@TwelveLabs attended AWS re:Invent last week with a series of announcements. They launched on Product Hunt on a Monday, the first day of the conference for maximum exposure.
Launching on a weekend for less competition
@Ultracite, an open-source product for developers, built by a solo maker, launched on a weekend, less competitive than a week day according to @Product Hunt.
Launching after gaining traction on X
@Dimension first launched on X, got some traction (3.5M+ impressions), and launched on Product Hunt the next day, riding those tailwinds.
Final thoughts
Different launches, different timings.
So, when is the best day to launch? On a week day, on a weekend? On a Monday or a Tuesday?
In their launch guide, [1] @Product Hunt puts it simply:
The best day to launch is when you're ready.

Keep it simple. Launch, and keep launching.
Product Hunt is about consistency. It pays off in the long term.
That's it! Hope you find this read helpful.

This is a great read. I totally agree that there’s no one-size-fits-all “best day.” The key is launching when you’re ready. 🙌

I completely agree. I released my easy tool on Monday, thinking it would go unnoticed, but by the end of the day, it made it to the top 10.

@k1lgor bravo, keep launching 👏👏

I am hugely aligned what you write here. To be honest, if I really wanted that badge, I would go for weekends.
If I wanted challenge and huge traction – week days – esp. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

spot on!
Your take resonates with me. I've delayed too many launches worrying about competition and visibility. Seeing how different teams didi it differently reassures me. I'll choose readiness over timing and stay consistent. Appreciate the realistic, creator-friendly perspective.

just launch it
I find most people are active here on weekends based on my experience

@kilopolki oh interesting! according to @Product Hunt, it's the opposite. to quote their launch guide:
@fmerian most of the replies I get from weekends
I really appreciate this breakdown. I've been overthinking my launch timing but your examples make it clear there's no magic moment. I'll focus on being prepared instead of perfect. Thanks for the reminder to stay consistent and just put my work out there.

launch, and keep launching

Do you think launch timing matters more for solo makers vs. companies with larger audiences?

good q. i think there's no secret sauce. just launch.
This was very helpful for PH newbie! We're working on something that we're looking to launch in Jan, and it's my first time launching on Product Hunt—interesting angle on "Launching after gaining traction on X" to create tailwinds. Going to explore this some more.

thanks for your feedback, Andrew.
from my perspective, the key takeaway here is that the "best day to launch" really depends on your context. i'd suggest reading the story of how @Ultracite launched. TL,DR: we experimented with different launch days, and in their context, it worked best on a weekend - ranked #2 Product of the Day.
Read: Launched Ultracite on Product Hunt twice. Here's what I learned.
hope it helps!
Amazing post, I enjoyed reading the entire thing. It seems like you really know your business. I’ve launched several products in the past, but on January 13, my greatest project yet. And I love the advice you give just keep launching. That’s exactly where I’m at right now. I’m not giving up, I’m not giving in. I’m just gonna keep on launching.
Thank you
