Hey Product Hunt! We are so excited to announce a big update to Product Hunt today (so meta). We think it’s a big step forward toward our vision for this platform and community. First, a little context. We've been talking with the community a LOT over the past year and a half. Interviews, surveys, polls, and data analysis all to answer one question: how can we make Product Hunt better for all of you. A few things came up again and again: 1. You want a single source of truth to follow the full history of a product 2. When you're researching a tool, you need an easy way to see all the reviews and rating info for a product consolidated in one place 3. As a maker, you want an easy way to reactivate the audience that you've found on Product Hunt, not just for major feature releases, but for all along a product's lifecycle (eg. managing waitlists and betas, doing early product validation, and of course, announcing updates big and small). We put our heads together and came up with something that we think is really going to help: ⚡️Product Hubs ⚡️ Product Hubs are your single source of truth, the place to find everything about a product’s journey, like: 🚀 All of a product’s historical launches ⭐ Reviews throughout the lifespan of the product 🏆 Awards and accolades throughout Product Hunt history 📰 Related news about the product 👥 The awesome makers who have worked on the product over time 👩🏻‍💻 Active job listings 💭 and lots more to come... You can even "follow" a Hub to make sure you never miss an update to your favorite products. For makers, these updates give you the tools to kickstart your community and bring them along for the ride, from the first time you introduce a product, to each iteration thereafter. You can read more about how Product Hubs work in the changelog. And because Product Hubs are now the place to roll up all of that canonical information, we have also been able to streamline our Launch Pages to focus on what's most important: the product, the discussion with the makers, and the key launch day performance stats. After launch day, this page will be saved to the product hub as part of its official history -- sort of like a time capsule. We hope this new change will set the stage for even more ways for our community and makers to support and rally around their favorite products -- this is just the beginning. As you might imagine the change has required a ton of work behind the scenes since it touches virtually every part of the product, so please let us know your thoughts, report any issues, and help us make this even better together. The team is hanging out in the comments below to respond to questions. Let's do this 💪 https://www.loom.com/share/9741d...

@ahiggz fantastic addition to PH - this is going to be so useful for both product hunters and makers alike... awesome! 😻 How do we ensure our SupaPass launch is added to our new product page?

@ahiggz @julianameyer Hey Juliana! Your Launch Page is already connected. It's showing on the Product Hub.

@fares_aktouf Thanks for your support!
App Store
@ahiggz The launch pages don't show the list of similar apps/websites anymore 🙁

Historically Product Hunt has focused on one specific moment in a project or company's journey: The launch. We should be helping with the entire lifecycle. I'm most excited to see how makers and founders use this in unexpected ways. 🧐

So excited to see this go live, well done to the team for all the hard work and love put into this 😻 Being able to better follow a company’s lifecycle and be notified when a team I’m following launches something new are by far my favourite features of this!

So makers don't have to wait six months to launch a product update on the same domain?
Ashley Higgins
@yucelfaruksahan Good question! First, a clarification: there's no hard and fast rule that says makers can't post to Product Hunt more often than every six months. But the guideline was put in place to avoid teams spamming the homepage with very minor, incremental updates. It's a better experience for everyone if we reserve the homepage for substantive updates and major releases. Depending on the team and product, those can take place more often than every six months, but it's not super common. But I think you're hitting on something important here -- we want Hubs to be the place where you can engage with the community you've built on Product Hunt, even things that may not be the best fit for the homepage. So the short answer is: yes, over time, this would be the perfect place to share updates, upcoming products, waitlists, conduct research, and answer questions with the community you've built over time.

@ahiggz Thank you for the reply Ashley, I wish all the best for PH family :)

This is really exciting, @michaelberhane_ and I were just talking about how hard it can be to keep up with a product's journey... you may see the launch and get obsessed with it for a few weeks before other priorities take over. And sure, you may follow the brand on social media & subscribe to their emails, but you won't always get a a chance to engage with all the updates. And who has the time to scroll through different profiles and web pages to piece the story together? This is exciting... I can see folks looking up Product Hubs the way they look up Wiki pages. Great work, folks! 👏🏾

Thanks @abadesi ❤️ Means a lot

@michaelberhane_ @abadesi You hit the nail on the head! It's about building a real relationship with your community on Product Hunt, not just the launch moment. Let us know what you think as you start playing around with it 🙏

This update makes total sense. I have always found it confusing to follow the same product on different launches. Can't wait to see it in action.
Michael Silber
@jsteneros For sure! We want to help makers to tell one continuous story about their products, and allow the community to easily follow it. We realized we had so much amazing history, we just had to make it more accessible.
Graeme
Congrats! Great to see PH evolve, I hadn't been very active in the community recently, but this has me really excited again! Look forward to dropping some launches to see how it works!
