How would you improve Product Hunt forums? Name some things

I spend most of my time on these two things:
1) observing products on the main page and upvoting/commenting on them

2) talking with people within comments under my forums

The second one is the one where I notice some things that I lack and see possible improvements, namely:

  1. After publishing a post, the ability to change the forum category (sometimes I completely forget about it).

  2. After publishing a post, the ability to add a poll or change/correct options (sometimes it's grammar or expression, because English is not my native language).

  3. Create a list where I will save my favourite forum posts and where I can come back to them.

  4. Ability to make co-creator posts.

What do you miss in forums?

Add the chance to modify the font into dyslexic people reading friendly!
AJ

@vincenzo_mastrovincenzo Seconded,

and Open dyslexic font option would be amazing!

@vincenzo_mastrovincenzo and @build_with_aj Is that primarily a preference to switch the font to Open dyslexic in places (like this forum) that have many paragraphs of text, or would you like that option in all text of all apps? In my recent iPhone app, I did my best to make the app usable by as many people as possible by supporting each of Apple’s accessibility categories. However, I haven’t read any mention of dyslexia font switching in their documentation. Do you have any resources you’d recommend I read to make sure my apps are fully inclusive to dyslexic users as well?
Nika

@vincenzo_mastrovincenzo I have heard that there are some specialised fonts. Definitely second this. We also included that one in our app after a few requests :)

@busmark_w_nika exactly :)

@vincenzo_mastrovincenzo feeling so proud to have suggested something considered so useful to add. I’m neurodivergent myself with ADHD/ASD. And here I’m thinking of my next suggestion!

Speed. I feel like 12-24 hours to get an approval of post is killing the content creator side
Yulia Nazarenko

@markus_kask I second this. Maybe self moderation could help (like downvotes on Reddit that automatically shift the post/comment down the feed), but this would also influence the vibe of the platform a lot. I would prefer to wait :)

Nika

@markus_kask  @yulianazarenko Downvotes were available a few months ago, but probably haven't brought the expected outcome.

Markus Kask

@yulianazarenko Yeah i understand the dilemma and the downsides of either way... just wished it went a bit faster :/ But hey, everyone cant be fast

Nika

@markus_kask I think that some posts are automatically approved and some revised by the team, but there is a few people in-house, probably it has time/human limitations.

Markus Kask

@busmark_w_nika Yeah makes sense, maybe its a "new account" doublecheck thing?

Nika

@markus_kask maybe. Have you tried to verify your acc?

Jewel Luther

I am founder of a platform. When ever I say something good about my platform it gets reject from everywhere. I thought it could be my post. So changed my posts content for other future posts. Got the same rejection. Now I stopped posting good words about my platform in reddit. Only my ads runs, so creating some ads time to time. Not sure it this is platform issue or something else. Could please check that?

Nika

@jewel_luther did you list it into the self- promotion forum topic?

AJ

Honestly the notifications seem to glitch a lot and are erroneous sometimes.

I would love the ability to star posts.

Nika

@build_with_aj what do you mean by "glitch"? BTW, when I sometimes create forum posts, the title diseappears whleI am writing the main text.

AJ

@busmark_w_nika

So, notifications for upvotes usually really long to appear.

And notifications for comments or replies in launches are sometimes missing.

Nika

@build_with_aj I spotted the 2nd point as well.

A saved favorites list for forum posts would be AMAZING. There are so many great discussions I want to revisit, but I always forget where I saw them :(

Nika

@abod_rehman true, and back to scroll to the history is sooooo long.

Abdul Rehman

@busmark_w_nika yess 😭

@busmark_w_nika I think there should be a dedicated forum section for neurodivergent people, and for all the tools, products, and services that can significantly improve neurodivergent lives. This matters because if someone with ADHD, like me, opens the forum and that title does not immediately catch their eye, they will do a messy, unfocused search, get discouraged one click before reaching the right link, fail to find it, get frustrated or disappointed, and stop opening Product Hunt altogether. Or they might jump to Hyperfox. Or follow a tangential train of thought and end up doing something completely different. As you can see, what looks like a single, predictable daily path for a neurotypical mind becomes a huge explosion of possible paths for a neurodivergent one. Our brains end up using about 75% more energy just to navigate what neurotypical people experience as “normal”. That means that every day we must make sense of 75% more input, choices, and friction than most people even notice. Imagine what it means to live a whole life like that. So I hope this gives you strong and clear reasons to create this new forum section. Thank you.
Nika

@vincenzo_mastrovincenzo what do you think about the statement that actually, we use only 10% of our brain capacity?

Musa Molla

One thing I’d add is context continuity. Forums generate a lot of high-signal discussion, but it’s easy for that knowledge to fragment. Features like saving threads, surfacing related past discussions when starting a post, or lightweight threading across similar topics would help turn forums into a cumulative knowledge base instead of a fast-moving feed. Small UX changes, but they would compound learning and reduce repetition over time.

Nika

@musa_molla We could create libraries from the best discussions!

Anirudh Madarapu

I feel like there should be leader board to show the most engaged people across all niches, maybe that will be interesting?!

Nika

@anirudh_madarapu Like top people in commenting, top people in hunting etc.?

Kath SeaCat

Hi,

I'm very new to these forums, but a couple of things look a bit annoying:

1) I have no idea why it shows specific forums under "Product Forums" on the left. They are not those I follow, so I'd like to have the opportunity to edit the list.

2) There is a forum for vibe coding, but no forums for just coding and marketing, and I think these two are still very important.

Thanks.

Nika

@seacat I stand for these 2 points as well, thank you you pointed them out!
