🚨 Community landing page roast: give a roast, get a roast 🚨
by•
Let’s bring back everyone’s favorite kind of feedback: brutally honest and weirdly helpful.
Drop a link to your landing page in the comments. Then roast someone else’s. Keep it real, keep it useful, keep it (mostly) kind 🫶
🗣️ We’re talking:
What’s confusing?
What’s missing?
What’s great but buried?
Would you actually sign up or bounce?
👀 The rules:
Give a roast → pick someone else’s page and leave thoughtful feedback.
Get a roast → now you get to hear what’s not working on yours.
Repeat for maximum insight (and pain).
Let’s make each other’s pages better, one slightly painful truth at a time 👇

My Financé
@filivvv your underlying URL is wrong i think
@catt_marroll thanks! Updated.
My Financé
@filivvv I originally thought this was a tool for building admin pages in a web app. (based on image and copy)
I personally like having an interactive version of the dashboard if you are going to show me an image (im bias here as i do that on my landing page: landing page
I like the timeline bit, thought that was interesting. all of the images feel a bit low resolution.
your illustrations are nice, i like those :)
overall, seems cool! i don't really have any of those problems (yet, hopefully!), so a bit harder for me to comment on the strength of the calls to action / pain. but it seems reasonable to me that i would save time using your tool!
@catt_marroll Thanks for the feedback, I will take a look at the copy and see how it can be adjusted so the proposition is clearer. Really like your interactive dashboard. I kind of backed myself into a hole, my marketing site is in Hugo so little reactivity.
@catt_marroll @filivvv Check out Donald Miller's marketing made simple concepts for great copy guidance. Clarity over cute and clever. You can use ChatGPT and tell it to pretend to be donald miller and help you clean up your copy.

@filivvv
Cool idea
Don't you need to show integrations for cap table, employee management, etc? If I use Gusto/Deel/Carta/whatever, the first thing I'd look at would be if you work with my vendor
The use cases on the home page don't strike me as daily activities (aside from calendar) unless it was for a hyper-scale startup (onboarding a new team member, cap table management, etc.) but maybe I did it all wrong
Landing page is cool, I want to follow along
@steveb Thanks for the feedback, integrations are something I am considering, I am trying to position this as a tool to be used before using the big boys, something I need to think about more carefully. On point on the 3rd comment, I need to rethink it slightly.
@filivvv
What’s confusing? I'm not sure what "team management" means in the context of an "operations platform" that also handles "financials" and "investor relations", but I like the screenshots! (I do see it later explained.) And I really like the alternating split view and the black and red color contrast.
What’s missing? Where does all the data come from?
What’s great but buried? Nothing? The page flows well to me.
Would you actually sign up or bounce? Probably bounce, but only because I'm not in the target market (no team management, financials, or investor relations). If I were, I might want to see the demo.
@brian_arndt1 Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know if a need were present it would lead to a deeper look. Team management is probably too general a term, it acts as simple employee rooster with their details, salary (integrates to financials) and options (cap table). Assigning teams and managers gives a foundation for future development of team management tools (reviews, pips, targets etc...). I am in the early stages now and built it out of need.
@filivvv
Confusing: The main tagline could benefit from being more direct, highlighting the specific problems you solve.
Missing: Adding social proof elements, like testimonials, could significantly boost user trust.
Great but buried: The all-in-one platform concept is fantastic; make that core benefit more prominent!
Sign up or bounce: Potential, but a clearer hook, value prop, and testimonials are needed to convince them to further investigate the product.

Nit: lower padding on hero looks weird on home, weird on features page bc it's too small there
Cool, super clean and easy to understand
There are many goal trackers- it seems like your messaging is that this particular goal method is better. Maybe you can add some case studies, screenshots, or more tangible examples. That'd also be a good SEO growth hack to create landing pages around weight loss and other popular goals and then users could "claim" them
@steveb Spot-on suggestions...thank you!
@steveb Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. You helped me immensely in getting a better landing page out there! See the improvements you helped create >> mylestones.life
AQX
@brian_arndt1
First off this looks super clean!
One small tweak I'd consider is to add some sort of visual element to the hero section - this could be a visual of the platform itself, a short video. Just something to give the user an idea of what to expect after sign up.
@cameron_froese Excellent idea! Thank you!
Potpie AI
@brian_arndt1
Firstly, the UI looks very clean and easy to navigate. some feedback...
Font looks little bit off, could be improved. Not suiting the overall look of UI
The color gradient in the Hero element could be changed to improve the visibility of overall text
Lastly, a visual element like an image or video would add a great appearance in the Hero element
@brian_arndt1 Honest feedback: I would bounce pretty quick
Can't see the product in-action.
The tagline at the top of the page is too vague ('stop chasing clouds')
@rohit_b Agree! I'm on it, and thank you!
@brian_arndt1 I'm not sure what it's about to be honest and i think it has to do with vague copies & lack of illustration.
The headline is not clear: I didn't get what chasing cloud means at first until I read the 2nd part of the headline.
The subtext has 4 lines of text. Anything over 3 lines is likely skipped because the brain perceive the comprehension effort to be high
Same problem with the 4 boxes. Each of this should its own section with illustration / animation
Social proof / testimonials is missing
@trung_vu3 Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. You helped me immensely in getting a better landing page out there! See the improvements you helped create >> https://mylestones.life/
@brian_arndt1 much better. Your annual price is the same as your monthly price. Why would someone want to pay annually?
On pricing, my initial reaction is $2.5/m is so cheap that I question the value of the product and wonder how someone can work on this for $30/year.

Please don't be kind, help us be better!
@troy_mcalpin1 I am quite impressed overall. Quite clear what it is (software development management tool), there is no annoying marketing fluff.
Another great point is that you are not trying to explain everything on the marketing site, and where the user might want to get into more detail the Learn More buttons take the user to the docs.
On the negative, it's not easy to find something, but let's try:
- The marketing site overall could be a tiny bit faster. Do we need 100+ web requests and 12MB of resources on the landing page load? Images could be converted to webp and probably shave off 30-40% of size with no visible loss in quality.
- on the above-the-fold area of the landing page, I wonder if we need to do a little more to give a quicker and wider overview of various key benefits. For example, under the Get it Now button, could have 4 little "Plan | Build | Run | Improve" labels with links to sections, or single sentence summaries for each.
- Alternatively, instead of the big screenshot on the right, maybe a 30-second video that does a high-level summary of the app would be better. This is a complex product and sometimes hearing someone explain what it is by walking you through a realistic way people use the app can be useful. For example in the video you could walk the user through the key concepts by showing how a team goes from an idea to scoping it out, assigning to a team, tracking, identifying issues, and deploying. In 30-60s to not make it boring and keep the user's attention.
- Finally.... and this is highly subjective and a more minor point... I get this feeling that your product is more polished and further down the startup journey than the website let's you believe on the initial visit. What I mean by that, is that even though the site is clean and well-structured, the design language is a little too.... minimalist... for the lack of a better word. Don't get me wrong, a simple and minimalist approach is great and personally, I love it, but I can see how people quickly opening the page might get a feel that this is a work-in-progress app built as a side project rather than a fully functional high-quality project management and feature tracking tool backed up by a great full-time team. If you are the designer reading this, sorry, this is not meant to be a criticism of the design which is clean, but more recognition of how people perceive value/quality due to exposure to a lot of tech sites that use the design language popularised by websites like Vercel, Linear, Supabase. yes all those sites look the same but people perceive that look with "High quality software I can trust".
So, I didn't really find many issues and have bookmarked your product for future evaluation for my own product management.
Edit: oh and love the idea of a public company Handbook!
Atono
@andriusbartulis Thank you so much for taking the time out to be this thoughtful and thorough! If I can return the favor just ask.
@troy_mcalpin1 No problem! My product is still in development and not even public beta yet, but always good to know if we are going in the right direction as far as messaging goes:
https://useformwork.com
At this stage, the main question is whether it's clear what we are building in the first place - does it make sense or raise question marks.
Would appreciate some thoughts, though no pressure at all.
@troy_mcalpin1
Hello Troy, my 2 cents, here :)
# Strengths
1. Clear Value Propositions: The page highlights specific benefits like "Stay on track," "Communicate clearly," "Toggle features in context," and "Prioritize fixes." These features resonate well with the pain points of software development teams, such as managing timelines, improving communication, and prioritizing tasks effectively.
2. Focused Messaging: The emphasis on reducing clutter, distractions, and stress aligns with common frustrations in software development workflows.
3. Modern Design Elements: The use of emojis and concise headers adds a casual yet engaging tone, making the content approachable vs your targets.
#Weaknesses & Suggestions for Improvement
1. Unclear Differentiation:
- Issue: While the page criticizes existing tools (e.g., "busy workspace," "constant noise"), it doesn’t clearly explain how Atono uniquely solves these issues.
- Solution: Add specific examples or visuals (e.g., screenshots or animations) demonstrating how Atono simplifies workflows compared to competitors.
2. Weak Call-to-Action (CTA):
- Issue: The CTAs are ok but don't provide immediate value or urgency.
- Solution: Reframe the CTAs to emphasize exclusivity or benefits, such as “Get early access to streamline your team’s workflow” or “Be the first to try Atono and boost your productivity.”
3. Lack of Social Proof:
- Issue: There’s no mention of testimonials, case studies, or user feedback to build trust.
- Solution: Include quotes from beta testers, logos of companies using Atono, or metrics like “Trusted by X teams” to establish credibility.
4. Abstract Problem Statements:
- Issue: Statements like "No clear starting point" and "Constant noise" are generic and lack actionable context.
- Solution: Provide relatable scenarios or examples (e.g., “Ever struggled to find who’s responsible for a feature? Atono assigns clear ownership to every task”).
5. Overuse of Text Without Visual Support:
- Issue: The page relies heavily on text/photos without visual aids to break it up.
- Solution: Add diagrams, GIFs, or videos showcasing key features like feature flags in action or guided story authoring.
#More: Quick Wins
- Add a comparison table showing how Atono outperforms other tools like Jira or Trello.
- Use dynamic language in the header (e.g., “Supercharge How You Build Software – Together”).
- Offer a free trial to lower barriers for new users.
By implementing these changes, Atono can better communicate its unique value proposition, build trust with potential users, and drive conversions more effectively :)
@troy_mcalpin1 I read the H1 and have no idea what you do. Also this cookie pop up is huge, I don't care about this shit. I scroll down I read the story, still no idea what you do, something about software. Stay on track section is where I start to get what you do. I don't see features section, benefits, testimonials.
In general I like the look and feel of the website and branding, however you can improve on copy and message. Also you can improve the homepage by adding more section that explain what your product does better then the competition. I hope that helps.
Atono
@mzkvisuals Thank you for the feedback and giving it to us bluntly! ;-) It helps. We are super serious about cookies i guess ;-) - that was a quick fix. We'll take the comments on content to heart and work it through. Thanks!
@troy_mcalpin1 Sure thing. Good luck

Hit me with your hottest takes!
I can take it. Probably.
Now drop yours so I can return the favor...
@ebookmaker In general I would have gone with a light website. White background and not bold accent color but something softer. This way the branding will feel closer to what people are used to. Books.
@mzkvisuals Thank you!
@ebookmaker I love the idea of Black and White concept, close to the real books we used to read. The one you have chosen now is a bit aggressive for the e-books "pubisher". Any testimonials, except 456480 creators?
@ebookmaker When I think about books, I think about creativity and colours. The website seems a little sad thematic wise cause its dark. Like Goth inspired. But great idea!!
@sakshi_patil8 Thank you!
KBucket
@ebookmaker I like the presentation.
You have social proof and the community page.
Testimonials and success stories will make it much stronger. (i.e. Leads Generated, Downloads, etc)

how about this one,someone says she likes it😁
@amiaomomo Website is slow and a bit laggy and I have a powerful pc. Also the branding and UI could be improved. Maybe those moving lines are slowing the website so much and also they don't add a lot of "interactivity" to the overal website.
@amiaomomo I absolutely love the idea and the founder's story should be on the web-site. ( The welcome words on PH page). Strong promo video.
Minus: available in app store only.
oMoo
thank you very much~! Currently we will develop the full ability of iPhone's haptic engine. We might launch the Android version if many users need that.

@anatoliy_tony_fedorenko I die the moment I see a CTA that is BOOK A DEMO, like bro I wanna try your product online, without talking to people, that's the whole concept of 'online'. And here you are making me talking to people. Oh wait in there is a Start Now button, now I'm confused. Oh wait now I saw there is a Contact Us button. I don't know what you want me to do. Anyway other than that I like your webiste, it's clean and simple. I think "Boost outsourcer development team productivity by 70%" is much better H1 then the one you have. Good luck and no hard feelings intended
@mzkvisuals man, thanks for the feedback 🤘🏼🤩 love it! Will be updating the page shortly considering it ⚡️

@mzkvisuals this is a great meta, your company roasts landing pages! great thread for you to get some content marketing juice!
some feedback:
I went through the website report generation and it is really slow. It would be pretty hard for me to actually wait this long if it wasnt me trying to give you feedback. maybe just make it all async and send me an email with the report so you verify my email as well?
I think your copy is pretty clean and makes sense to me!
everyone has 4 star reviews so im not really sure why i should trust that social proof. Also i cant click it to go to see the reviews, so it feels even more fake
your nav bar takes up alot of space but has almost nothing in it
I normally go straight to pricing once i think i might be interested. would be nice to have a button for that.
(edit: i see, its because i made an account)
mega nit, but im not sure what "device" your video is supposed to be on, I would just remove that personally
honestly i think this whole thing is really cool and I found it quite interesting!
the report with some data redacted seems like a really great way to get me to convert.
I think the main this missing for me is understanding why you are an expert or should be trusted.
Show me why i should believe you with some story about your personal experience, or some case studies, or some reviews or ...
Basically it all seems legit, but i want a strong reason to believe you.
hope that helps,
awesome product!
@catt_marroll Now that's a great feedback my friend. Thank you so much. I see your point and I'll look into it. Seems like you have a point. Sadly for the slow report generation, there is nothing more we can do about it technically, maybe I can think of something to entertain the user while it's beeing generate. Anyway thanks again.
My Financé
@mzkvisuals yeah to be clear the report does create a ton of value. im not sure how its happening behind the scenes (are you actually just making them in real time by hand haaha??), but you could possibly stream in sections at a time.
i.e if its fast to determine my pageload speed, maybe start giving me parts of the report while the others generate.
just an idea, no idea if technically feasible.
@catt_marroll That's a great idea, will look into it. And yeah we have a dedicated team of around 1000 people doing it hand by hand, we call them AI :D
@mzkvisuals
The error I faced while waiting for the report. So, what not sure how to deel with that.
Failed to fetch (api.webgremlin.ai).
@theonebroker Yeah we are struggling with that for a couple of days, but will get fixed. Thank you for reporting that. Usually it's ok if you run the report again or go to the dashbord the report is probably already generated.
Hello hello - Sam here from CRANQ.ai - Redesign is imminent let me & the team know what you think :)

I'm out on anything that creates AI-noise
If it works so well, why do you only have 2500 followers?
"Apply now" instead of pricing is a dark pattern especially for something like this
Video looks like an old-school infomercial but is also kind of fun
@steveb
Ok thank you!
I appreciate that feedback Steve :)
2500 Followers - Because we only target high-quality followers (43% are verified) not many bot followers etc. Although I very much see your point!
You're right on the Apply Now side of things - Very much in a Alpha stage atm so have some issues to iron out!
We quite like funky videos, definitely different to what's out there!
@cranqnow please let me know where is the roasting place on Reddit, I also want to go there :))
