๐Ÿ”ด Live: Kilo Code on Product Hunt

byโ€ข

OSS AI coding assistant @Kilo Code is launching today. This is their 3rd launch on @Product Hunt.

Last year, they crushed it: Two launches, ranked respectfully #5 Product of the Day and #1 Product of the Day -- among the best developer tools launched in 2025 in my opinion.

No pressure.

Today, they're launching Kilo Code Reviewer -- AI-powered code review agents that understand your codebase and catch bugs before merging.

I'm experimenting with something new, live blogging the launch for the next 24 hours.

Let's go.

12:01:AM:PST -- going live

Step 1: getting featured. Check!

For the first 4 hours of the day, Product Hunt hides upvotes and sorts the homepage randomly. This should give products "a more distributed chance at exposure early." โ€” Source

Pro tip: To monitor your launch day in real time, you can add /launch-day to your post URL.ย View comments that need responding, your most notable voters, where your product ranks and how much time is left in the day.

Fun fact: @Product Hunt launched this feature 6 years ago.

/products/{yourProduct}/launch-day

01:01:AM:PST -- new milestone: 100 points

Productย Hunt is a great place for developer tools to launch -- a place where many dev-first, open-source products like @Kilo Code launched successfully:

02:57:AM:PST -- new milestone: 150 points

Productย Hunt helps raise awareness, get feedback, and collect testimonials โ€” the type of materials you can reuse later on for marketing purposes.

Take this comment for instance:

As a data engineer, Iโ€™ve been using Kilo Code reviewer and itโ€™s surprisingly data aware, not just code aware. It helps me catch pipeline changes that would only break dashboards later.

-- Pedro Heyerdahl

04:01:AM:PST -- current status: #1 Product of the Day

@Kilo Code is currently #1 Product of the Day, with 30 comments and 199 points.

Fun fact: Today's Top 3 Products of the Day are open-source products. OSS ftw!

04:12:AM:PST -- new milestone: 200 points

@Kilo Codeย is still #1 Product of the Day and just reached 200 points.

06:17:AM:PST -- new milestone: 300 points

@Kilo Codeย is still #1 Product of the Day and just reached 300 points.

07:00:AM:PST -- new milestone: 331 points

When @Kilo Code first launched their @VS Code extension on Product Hunt about a year ago, they got 330 points. They just surpassed it.

Product Hunt pays off in the long term. Launch, and keep launching.

09:39:AM:PST -- new milestone: 400 points

@Kilo Codeย is still #1 Product of the Day and just reached 400 points.

02:34:PM:PST -- new milestone: 500 points

@Kilo Codeย is still #1 Product of the Day and just reached 500 points.

11:44:PM:PST -- new milestone: 600 points

@Kilo Codeย is still #1 Product of the Day and just reached 600 points.

12:00:AM:PST -- wrapping up

That's a wrap!

Results

  • 636 points

Key takeaway

Launching multiple times create a tailwind.

When first launched a year ago, @Kilo Code had 0 followers, ranked #5 Product of the Day. Later on, they launched their @JetBrains extension and ranked #1 Product of the Day.

Launch, and keep launching. Productย Hunt pays off in the long term.

@fmerian Congrats on the launch! Kilo Code Reviewer looks solid โ€” auto PR reviews with 500+ models is huge for speed. Weโ€™re doing similar in voice: real-time probes on interview audio to catch scripted/fake answers. Howโ€™s the beta feedback so far? Any surprising use cases?

@fmerian Thanks for the upvote! ๐Ÿ”ฅ Kilo Code launch looks strong โ€” great to see OSS AI tools crushing PH. Any tips for my upcoming HireXHub launch? Would love your hunter eye

Thank you, Sergei!

Any tips for my upcoming HireXHub launch?

Good question. FYI I shared some thoughts when @Kilo Code previously launched in this post. [1]

TL,DR:

  • You don't need a 4-week plan

  • You don't need to launch on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday

  • You don't need to cold outreach people

Above all, my #1 lesson learned:

Keep it simple. Productย Hunt is about consistency. Launch, keep launching. It pays off in the long term.

Hope it helps! Keep it up
