Are we digging the new Digg?

by

Digg is back.

The onetime news aggregator relaunched Wednesday as a Reddit competitor, with founder Kevin Rose and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at the helm.

The company is planning some AI integrations to help ensure the communities are populated by real people and not, well, AI.

Has anyone signed up yet? I know it's probably like wandering around a construction zone for a suburb that's only just broken ground, but still: What's the verdict?

Made an account and poked around for abit. It honestly feels like walking through a half-built mall. That said, I like the intent behind it. If they proctect real users and reward good posts, I'm cautiously optimistic.

@safina_seth I guess a half-built mall is better than a mall that's lost all its major stores — which is how a few social networks are feeling these days.

I signed up out of pure curiosity. Right now it feels empty and rough but that's kind of expected. I'm more interested in whether the community vibe ends up feeling thoughtful instead of noisy. If they actually pull that off, I'd stick around.

Haven't joined yet but I'm watching from the sidelines. Early platforms usually feel awkward and unfinished. For me, it'll come down to whether real conversations show up or if it just turns into another engagement farm.
