Keeping Customers Engaged Beyond Initial Sign-Up

All of us want customers on our platforms. However, a sign-up is very different from an engaged user who keeps returning and finding value over time.

Creating the right user experience, without being too intrusive, spammy, or in your face , can significantly improve engagement, increase conversions, and reduce churn. In my experience, a platform s success is defined far more by its active users than by the total number of people who have ever signed up.

Below are a few approaches I ve seen work well, along with some that haven t been as effective.

Which platform do you consider trustworthy when reading product reviews?

Whenever I m about to buy something (especially something more expensive), I can be easily influenced by recommendations from people I trust and know. That might be well-known accounts on X or suggestions from friends.

Or, I go and read the reviews.

Which company nailed marketing in 2025? My top picks

The more information and ads we re exposed to, the more resistant we become.

(It s literally impossible to absorb everything, so our brains just filter most of it out.)

BUT there s always that one exception.

Does your company run a community on any platform?

No, at this time, I do not mean social media but something like an enclosed community for the core (top-tier customers).

On Friday, I had a call with a marketing manager at @Crisp and he mentioned this thing.
I know there are more companies that are trying to create more personal connections with paying clients and network among themselves. I love community management, wanna learn from the best and apply the best practices.

Scalable Rewards Solution
Hey there! Hope you are well. I'm looking for a scalable way to reward people. Does a product like this exist? For example, engage with this social post and get a $5 giftcard to starbucks. But need the giftcard to generate automatically each time, until X dollar threshold. Happy to look at similar products, any ideas for how I can reward my community easily. Thank you in advance!

Agency / service entrepreneurs, what’s your secret for happy clients that bring you referrals ?
If there s one thing I've come to realize in the service game is how powerful customer referrals are. For agency and service businesses, more than 60% of new business comes from referrals and recommendations ! But getting those referrals isn't always straightforward. For those of you who have cracked the code, what's your secret?  Personally, i found that affiliation programs work well but most importantly that the work starts from client onboarding. For those of you running service businesses, what have you found to be the most effective ways to offer a great client experience and turn customers into happy advocates ?

What should be done more to create long term users for a Product/Service?
Just wanted to know that in order to build a pool of users who stick to the brand in the longer run, what should be done more, short form content being viral and addictive or content marketing adding value to the users' lives. Would be phenomenal if I get to know your views. Cheers!

Gamification
I've noticed Product Hunt has added a few gamification features like the "streak" on the landing page as well as badges for the profile pages. I think they are well done because they encourage the behaviour the platform wants to see and at the same time they aren't in your way. The "core" experience of Product Hunt always had a strong game-loop thanks to the upvoting and daily ranking dynamics but it is interesting to see these core ideas still being fleshed out more and more over time. Well done! Question: have you come across other apps or platforms that do gamification really well? Where it feels like part of the thing and not just like a gimmick? Any pointers appreciated!
