We run the Umbrel store on Shopify in headless mode, pulling everything via API on our website, using our own custom cart. Shopify's been rock solid for 3 years since we launched Umbrel Home, and handles shipping timeframes, regional pricing, etc extremely well.

umbrelOS is designed entirely in Figma. One of the hardest UI challenges with Umbrel Pro was making RAID (FailSafe) feel simple. We needed to show users exactly how their storage works, which SSD is in which slot, and what happens if one fails, without overwhelming them. We used Figma to iterate on those illustrations and interactions quickly until it felt delightful instead of intimidating.

We used Blender to model the entire industrial design of Umbrel Pro, including trying out different materials for the frame before landing on American Walnut, iterating on the chassis geometry - all of it. The speed of being able to render realistic materials and see how they'd actually look provided a huge speed up during our prototyping stage. We also used it to produce the reveal video. Hard to believe this is free software.
